Our lab received a 2026–2027 Wayne State University Research Grant for the project “Maternal Viral Infection and Placental Hematopoietic Stem Cells.” This $10,000 award will support research on how maternal viral infection during pregnancy may influence placental hematopoietic stem cell development and long-term offspring immune programming.

Congratulations to our master’s student, Savannah Schick, on receiving a 2026 Trainee Travel Award from the American Society for Reproductive Immunology (ASRI) and being selected for an oral presentation at the ASRI Annual Meeting in Lexington, Kentucky. Her research focuses on how A20 regulates placental inflammasome activity during pregnancy.

Our Nature Communications study on prenatal Zika virus exposure and offspring immune programming was featured by Wayne State University.
This work shows that maternal viral infection during pregnancy can have long-term, sex-specific effects on offspring neutrophil function and immune responses.
